Oliver had released her after he was done taking her shirt out of her jeans and sat a little away from her. Alexandra on the other hand was trying to learn how to breathe again. She knew it didn’t mean anything and she shouldn’t pay too much attention to it. He was only helping her. But she couldn’t stop the sensation of his arms around her. Her skin was all tingly where his arms touched hers.
“Alex, are you alright? You’re a little pale.”
Alexandra shook her head and blinked her eyes a few time. It seemed she had been trapped in a day dream for a second. She looked at Oliver and smiled.
“Yeah... I... I’ll be fine. Right, so my injury, I was going to show you my injury.”
She wiped the tears that were drying on her face away and set up on her knees. She needed the extra height to be able to lift her shirt without any more pain. She grabbed the edge of her shirt with her left hand en looked down at it while she lifted it up. She was too scared to look at Oliver, afraid of what she would see in his eyes. The edge of her ribs came in to few. The skin was coloured red and a purplish blue. Oliver gasped.
“That’s a bruise! Oh my god, what happened?”
Alexandra looked up quickly and pure shock and horror showed on Oliver’s face. She let her shirt drop and turned around as quickly as she was able to. She didn’t want Oliver to see her cry again. How come injuries always hurt more when someone paid attention to it?
“I think I cracked my ribs.”
Her voice sounded thick with tears. Oliver closed the distance between them and wrapped his arms carefully around her. He stroked her hair gently and whispered soothing words to her that didn’t mean anything and everything in the world.
