They had gotten out of the water again. Jamie had helped Kami a lending hand by pulling her out of the water. Because of her wound, she wasn't able to climb back on her self. Oliver had pulled himself back in the boat and sat down against Alexandra, wrapping his arms around her. She had shrieked and pushed at him.
"Oli, get away from me! You're wet and cold!"
She laughed and hunched over in pain.
"Please, no ribbing."
She giggled and tried to keep as still as possible. When everybody was back in the boat again, they set of once more towards the mountain in the distance.
It had taken them almost six hours to get there. They were all tired and stiff. Darkness had set in well and true when they finally reached the main land.
"I thought it was much closer."
Mark sounded as exhausted as they all felt. He jumped in the water and pulled the boat on to the beach. A cold wind blew around them. Kami shivered and wrapped her arms around her.
"Can we get a fire going somehow?"
She and Jamie jumped out of the boat. Kaylea, who was still holding on to baby Kerry, carefully climbed out of the boat and stepped in to the shallow water. They helped pull the boat as far on to the beach as possible. Mark held out his hands to Alexandra, she looked at his hand as if it was something scary.
"I promise I won't bite. Let me help you out of the boat."
She looked at Oliver and he nodded. She trusted Oliver, all though she didn't know why, but Mark... Well she didn't know about it yet. Perhaps they needed to have a good talk first. She felt she needed to lay down a few rules when it came to him. She sighed deeply and put her hands in his. He gently lifted her to her feet.
"We will do this at your pace, okay? There is no need to hurry."
Tears were rolling down her cheeks, while she nodded her head in agreement. She was extremely happy for the darkness at this point. She didn't want anyone to see her cry.
