Jamie was walking along the beach, racking his mind over what had gone wrong with Kami. What had made her so angry? He had only said that she could probably make the cage. Was that really so bad?
“She probably thinks so.”
He sighed and headed back to camp. If he would run in to her now, he would apologize. But as the camp came in to view again, he still hadn’t seen Kami. He reached the camp and looked around. He didn’t see any of the girls, only Oliver and Mark were sitting next to the fire. Oliver was feeding the baby and Mark was poking the fire with a stick.
“Where are the girls?”
Mark and Oliver looked at each other and then at Jamie.
“They stormed out on us. Where’s Kami?”
Jamie rubbed his neck.
“She stormed out on me after I acted like a jerk.”
Jamie sat down and looked at the sky. The sun had started to set and the sky was turning a purplish blue.
“I’m sure they will come back soon. They should be getting hungry, right?”
Mark shrugged.
"They haven't eaten much today anyway. And if I understand Kami a little, she should be hungry right now."
