Kami, Alexandra and Kaylea sat around their fire. Empty crab shells were lying in a heap in the sand. They had used the stones to crack open the crabs and had feasted on the delicious crabmeat.

“That was a lot better then I would have thought.”

Kaylea said and picked a piece of meet from between her teeth.

“Yeah, if we can do this every day, you won’t hear me complain.”

Kami sniggered. She thought it was funny that she had suggested catching crabs to Jamie and here she was eating crabs for dinner with Kay and Alex.

“I think if we ate crab every day, at one point we would get sick and tired of it. Tomorrow morning we will have to search this place to see if there’s more food and if we have any inhabitants.”

Kami pulled a face.

“And I guess we will have to go back to the guys as well. I wonder if they are sick with worry about us. Serves them right if they were.”

Kaylea looked at her.

“Kami, you sound bitter. What happened between you and Jamie?”

Kami made an exasperated sound.

“He figured that, because I’m a woman, I would know everything about weaving baskets and making cages.”

“He did? Oh, such a thing to say! What a male chauvinist pig.”

Alex could get angry about such things.

“Men have so not evolved. In a time like this we all have to work together to survive and here they are expecting that we would do all the work? What would they do? Go hunting while we build a house and clean and do the dishes?”

She threw a crab shell in to the fire and flinched.

“Damn it... Stupid ribs... I wish you would just heal already.”

She rubbed her sore ribs and leaned her hands back in the sand.

“Let’s go to sleep, I have a feeling it’s really late already.”

Kami suggested and the others nodded their agreement. Kaylea covered the crab shells with a pile of sand and scooted over to Kami and Alex. Alex gently leaned back, bending from the waist so she didn’t stretch her ribs too much. They lay down next to each other and soon fell asleep.
