The guys had been shuffling around on the beach for over an hour. Because Oliver wasn’t able to move as fast, it had taken a lot longer then they were expecting. Suddenly Jamie spotted an orange glow in the distance.
“That looks like a campfire! It must be the girls. Come on, I’m sure they are terrified!”
Jamie and Mark forward, Oliver picked up the branch and hopped on one leg.
“Stupid ankle, I wish you would just heal already.”
When he arrived at the campfire, Jamie and Mark were blocking his vision of the girls.
“What’s going on? Are they alright?”
Mark and Jamie looked back at him and stepped aside so Oliver could see as well. Alexandra, on the right, lay on her back with one arm flung out and the other arm on Kaylea’s side. Kaylea, on her side, had scooted against Alex in her sleep; using Alex’s flung out arm as a pillow. She was hugging Alex with her right arm. Kami was spooning Kaylea and had one arm flung over Kay’s side. All three girls were fast asleep.
“Now that’s the sweetest sight I ever did see.”
Mark pulled a camera from his pocket and took a picture, the flash of the camera lighting the sleeping threesome for a split second.
“Where did you get that?”
Jamie asked surprised. Mark turned around and flashed a smile.
“I found it in one of the bags. It’s a digital camera. I thought we could take a few pictures of our time here. In case we are rescued and no one believes us. We have the pictures to prove it.”
