Oliver was washing his hands in the ocean. They had spent half an hour going through the backpacks and making inventory. They seemed to have a lot of useless things. Why did women carry so much junk in their bags? He would never understand it. It seemed there was a lot of things like make up and nail polish. That was obviously useless. They had found some books as well; those would be nice to read when they had set up camp.

“I wonder how long it will take before we are rescued.”

He looked at the horizon. It seemed like something was floating on the water. He couldn’t see what it was, but he was sure it wasn’t a boat. It was too small for that.

“What ever it is, it’s too far out to sea for me to go and get it.”

He hopped back to the fire and got the list out again. They had found several lighters and matches. Those would definitely be useful. Several wallets with money. Money wouldn’t do them any good on the island, but they had decided to keep the wallets for the families. They had found hairbrushes, baby wipes, pens, paper, chewing gum. One backpack held a secret stash of chocolate and crackers.

“The others should hurry up with the food.”

Het sat down and looked at the water. If he could make something like a fishnet, they might be able to feed them selves for several days. He remembered one of the bags had held a sewing kit. He took it out and looked at the needles. If he could bend them, they might make good fish hooks.

“How can I bend them? I would need to make them piping hot!”
