Alexandra dragged the vine behind her as she walked up to the small beach around the pond. It wasn’t strong enough to hold her, but it might be strong enough to build something with. She wrapped it around her waist and shoulders, crossing it at the front. She tried moving around a little and realised she still could.
“Not bad! A home made carrying device.”
She used the vine on her back to hold on to some bamboo leaves and bamboo shoots. She could probably make a cage out of the shoots and the leaves should work nicely to wrap some food in if they wanted to smoke it.
“Now I just have to find a way back to the camp.”
She started walking in a straight line, figuring that where ever she exited out of the jungle, she would be on a beach and could just follow the beach back to camp. The passed a tree with berries. She didn’t recognize them, but the tree was full of them. If these were eatable, they would have at least a food source. She tried climbing the tree, but there were no low branches and she had never been good at climbing to begin with.
“How the heck am I going to get a branch from this tree?”
Suddenly she had an idea. She undid the vine around her waist and laid the bamboo shoots and leaves in a pile away from the tree.
“Wouldn’t want to fall on them and break them or anything.”
She muttered to herself. She tied a noose on the end of the vine and threw it up. She looked up to follow the path of the vine, but as hard as she threw it up, it came back down again.
“Okay so that’s not going to work.”
She tried tying the vine around the tree and around herself, like the palm tree climbers she had seen on TV once, but the bark was too slippery to walk on. She sat down on the ground with a big sigh and put her hands in her head.
“This is never going to work! I have to think of something better.”
