The group was walking through the jungle. They had found some bananas and coconuts and something that looked like a potato. Kami and Jamie had their backpacks on their back and Kaylea and Mark had filled them with the few bananas and coconuts they had found that were ripe.
“I’m no expert on wild fruits, but I think it might take a week or two before the rest is actually ripe.”
Kami pointed out.
“If we could make a map or something, we could mark the places we found food.”
She looked at the others.
“Anybody have any experience with map making?”
Nobody had any idea how to do it.
“I guess the best thing is just to walk and draw at the same time? At least we would know what shape the island has.”
Mark looked at Jamie.
“How can you be sure this is an island?”
Jamie gave Mark a look back.
“Don’t you think that if we were on the mainland, that someone would have been here already? Or we would have seen some sort proof of civilisation? If I am right, we are on a desert island in the middle of freaking nowhere.”
Mark looked away and was quiet for the next few minutes. He straightened up and took a deep breath.
“Well, if we are on a desert island, then this is serious. I will do what I can to help out as much as possible.”
Kaylea looked at him, adoration plain on her face. She was secretly proud of him. Kami glanced sideways at Mark and snorted.
“Finally.”
She whispered to Jamie, who sniggered in response.
