Mark and Kaylea stepped out on to the beach. They had somehow ended up exactly where Mark had climbed the rocks. They looked at each other and shrugged. Kami and Jamie stepped out after them.
“Oh this is gorgeous, look at that rock formation.”
Mark pointed at the point where had stood before.
“If you stand there, you can see a small private beach, followed by another rock formation and then more beaches. It’s really beautiful.”
They turned around and headed back to camp.
“What had that sound been that made me fall, Mark? Did you see anything?”
Kaylea asked and glanced sideways quickly. Mark shook his head.
“I didn’t see anything, but it was a high-pitched scream. I think it was some kind of animal.”
Kami hooked her arm in Kaylea’s and smiled at her.
“We’ll go back there later on and try and find out what it was.”
Kaylea nodded and looked over at Jamie.
“How’s your hand Jamie?”
Jamie looked down at his hand and turned it around.
“It’s actually okay. It doesn’t hurt as much; I think resting it is doing what it’s supposed to do. I just wish it would heal a little faster.”
Kami swung her backpack around and took her book out.
“There should be plenty of plants and roots in here that can heal wounds or speed up recovery.”
She started flipping through the book.
“We can go look for it tomorrow or the day after. I think we shall need to look at setting up camp first. I mean a real camp, more than the boat and the backpacks around the fire like we have now.”
