They had unpacked everything from the suitcase; it held clothing, two small knifes, a pair of steel nosed boots, binoculars, a small compass, toilet paper, rope and a set off small cooking pot.
"Well, this seems to make our stay here a lot easier."
Mark said and tried on the boots. He wiggled his toes in the boots and smiled.
"Perfect fit!"
Kami and Alexandra just looked at each other and rolled their eyes.
“Taking a dead man’s shoes. Must have been raised in a barn.”
Kami whispered to Alexandra. They giggled and looked at Mark; who was now handling the machete. He made a few slicing movements; a look of pure delight crossed his face.
“You be careful with that knife, Mark. I wouldn’t want you to cut of any delicate body parts.”
Kami called from the other side of the fire. Mark looked at her and grinned.
“Why? Are you worried that it would make me less of a man?”
He called back to her. Kami’s face turned a nice shade of tomato red. Alexandra laughed out loud; the sudden movement made her slip and fall backwards in the sand.
“Ouch, that hurts.”
She tried to sit up and failed. Kami tried to help her up, but Alexandra waved her hands away.
“Just leave me lying here. I’m not of much help anyway.”
Oliver scooted over next to Alexandra and lifted her up under the shoulders and laid her down with her head on his legs. Alexandra blinked up at him.
“One good deed deserves another.”
Oliver said and smiled. One good deed deserves another; and so one good smile deserves another. Alexandra smiled back at him and settled in to his lap.
“Is there anything I can do while I’m on my back?”
Alexandra asked to no one in particular. Mark stood up and loomed over her.
“I can think of a few things.”
He said; a nefarious look on his face. Alexandra tried to be outraged, but if Mark kept being such a pain in the ass, she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Fat chance, muscle man! Why don’t you go and play Indiana Jones in the jungle and go and cut us some wood for a house. You seemed to take a liking to the machete.”
